Where we come from
Studio Karadjov was established in 2017 in Sofia by Ivan Karadjov upon returning to his native city after spending 15 years studying, practicing, and teaching architecture in Munich, Bath, and London.
He gained knowledge and experience at the award-winning offices Grimshaw, London and Bögl Gierer Architekten, Munich, working on projects of various scales and typologies. He was also involved in various design studios at the Technische Universität München, teaching students on the synergy of design methodology and building technologies at the chair of Professor Florian Nagler.
Where we are now
We are a team of five architects currently working mainly on projects in Bulgaria and Germany.
We explore different housing models while finding effective solutions for the creation of diverse urban fabric and quality living space within increasing budget constraints and rising construction cost.
How we work
We strive to deliver high-quality and creative solutions for the various architectural challenges presented to us.
Our design process is based on a careful analysis of the brief and location, and the synergy of concept and structure. We use a conceptual approach that establishes a connection to context, history, and culture. Thereby clients and partners are always involved through an open dialogue in the project’s development.
We pay close attention to the creative use of building materials, the qualities of light and the relationship between the building and its context. We consider these issues to be more important than working in a particular style and hope that each project will be an original interpretation of the client, end-users, site, brief and budget.
The result is clear and timeless architecture with emphasis on the very private human experience of space, light, and materials.
