Situated at the northernmost corner of the new development area, the plot for this subsidized housing project serves as a striking introduction to the new Wimberg area, which is significantly enhanced by the presence of the surrounding forests. The irregular shape of the plot and the curving streets define the sculptural form of the building. Their form creates clear edges along the streets and responds to the sun’s path, allowing the interior to enjoy extended sunlight. The two buildings integrate into the urban structure. They are positioned at the building boundary and enhance the urban character of the street space. The entrances are clearly oriented towards the street.
The buildings are in an open and peacefully designed green area with good southern exposure. Continuous separation is omitted, and hedges create private areas that encourage neighborhood interaction. The front gardens are open, allowing them to become part of the street space. The prominent entrances and the children’s playground offer recreational areas and meeting points for all residents. The residential complex includes a shared basement with underground parking, bicycle parking spaces and ancillary areas. The access ramp is integrated into Building 1 and does not affect the design of the complex.
The sculptural form is reflected in dynamic floor plans. The spatial layout allows for individual adjustments, enabling a personalized living experience. The structure of the buildings allows for a variety of apartment types, enabling modifications or restructuring. The apartments range from 55 to 120 m². Ground floor apartments have private outdoor areas, while penthouse apartments feature spacious roof terraces. All apartments are barrier-free.
The façade design enhances the sculptural impact of the buildings. The vertical wooden slats connect the project to the adjacent forest. Balconies serve as interfaces between indoor and outdoor spaces and allow versatile use. Floor-to-ceiling windows with sun protection elements act as a filter between inside and outside. The constant play of shadows that they create changes the appearance of the façade throughout the day.
